Returning to the UK after collapse of Kiss Flights

London based travel company trading as ‘Kiss Flights’ collapsed on 17th August 2010. It left approximately 13,000 people stranded overseas as a direct result.  The Civil Aviation Authority have stepped in to ensure those who are ATOL protected will get a return flight back to the UK. There are an estimated 60,000 people who have forward bookings with this particular company.   If their holiday is ATOL protected, they will be able to claim a full refund for the ATOL protected elements of their holiday from the CAA.

Kiss_Flights.jpgAlthough it seems dramatic that four airline companies have collapsed in as many weeks, this is actually a small proportion in comparison to 2009, when 33 collapsed and a staggering 42 in 2008.

It is unusual for collapse of airlines in the summer months and more prominent during Autumn and Winter months when bookings are generally down.

Having spoken to the very helpful and friendly team at the CAA, they are of course exceptionally busy at present and doing their level best in getting passengers back from their holidays in a relatively painless way, it really is a case of ‘International Rescue’!

The CAAdo a good job in rescuing people but they could do better at the licensing stage - why are these companies allowed to trade in the first place?

When a company goes bust it is not just a matter of getting the money back. If you have not travelled you lose the holiday and have to try and explain to the children.

I booked for my husband, two children and me and now we can't go. We have the time booked off from work and can't change it so we just lose the holiday. We booked a parking space and they won't pay the money back, so we are stuffed.

Yes, we will get the flight money back but that does not compensate does it?

I do sympathise with Brenda Petts. We are a family of ten gran gandad sons daughters and children.

After the collapse of Goldtrail we decided to rebook with an extra cost of £90 each with Kiss airlines. Well we was not happy but we where still looking forward for our holiday as a family then the collapse of Kiss airlines which left us with no holiday and £4300 out of pocket.

The travel company, Sunmaster travel agents, said we can get you on other flights, but with a big but it will be an extra £700.00 which you can imagine we said on your bike we will have our monies back. So now we have to get our monies back after proberbly £100.00 worth of calls and 2 months later got part of the refund back £1600.00 but we are still waiting as i put this comment in for the rest from CAA insurance. No phone calls or emails.

This is the biggest scam of all fiddles this guy Phill Wyatt who has been allowed to collapse holiday companies and restart again with other companies beggars belief he should be hung drawn and quartered. With costormers rebooking it is estimated the extra cost for his coffers would approximatly be in the region of £50,0000.00

please please dont let this drop. The authorities should get there heads together and sort these scams out. thousands of people have saved up for 2 and 3 years for these holidays and the goverment do nothing to get our monies back immiedietly.

what i cannot understand is it takes 2 minuetes to pay for your holiday on your card but they can not give it you back in 2 minuetes it could take twelve months if your lucky. Come on goverment, sort these robbers out and get normal working people ther money back

yours faithfully

very very disgruntled and annoyed holiday maker
