Christmas Shopping at Heathrow

Heathrow launches festive ad campaign

Heathrow is encouraging people to shop smart this Christmas in its latest advertising campaign.

terminal5-shop.jpgBuilding on the airport's first retail advertising campaign, Heathrow shopping. The West End for less, which launched this summer, Heathrow will target passengers from both the UK and abroad to highlight the significant savings available compared to the capital's West End stores.

The campaign will encourage the three million passengers set to fly from Heathrow this Christmas to delay their festive shopping until the airport and take advantage of Heathrow’s Reserve and Collect Service at heathrow.com As far as I am concerned anything that makes Christmas shopping less stressful is fine by me!

Heathrow is home to more than 400 shops from high street favourites such as French Connection and Reiss to top-end names including Prada, Dior and Burberry.  Heathrow Gifting Angels will be on hand over the festive season to inspire passengers wanting to find the perfect gift and providing information on the latest Christmas trends.  Something I think personally is a good idea as I for one always find it incredibly difficult to find that ‘perfect present’.

Nick Adderley who is Heathrow’s Marketing and Insight Director said, "Christmas is always big event at Heathrow, when families and friends travel around the world with us to be together at this special time of year.

"As the gateway for more than three million passengers at Christmas, we want to remind our customers of the savings they can benefit from by shopping at Heathrow as well as the amazing range of brands and products available for gifting."

Sounds like a fantastic idea, I am going skiing on Boxing Day and therefore will be busy packing as well as trying to enjoy the festive period beforehand. This sounds like a great idea and one I will be taking advantage of!

A great campaign, I am sure it will be very popular. Not only will it save travellers time but also money, what more could we ask for?

Heathrow has a captive market with people in 'holiday' mood and perhaps not as careful with their money as they would normally be. If they can resist the temptation to rip people off, and provide decent merchandise at decent prices, then this can be a very good idea.

If you are travelling on Christmas Eve i think that Christmas Shopping at Heathrow is perfect, you can get any last minute shopping done before you travel.

I agree with Thomas, we all seem to forget any money woes when December comes and spend, spend, spend. However, I imagine that most people that are travelling abroad for Christmas are in a financial position to overspend anyway and so its ideal for them to grab a few more last minute gifts.

A great idea for travellers that have left the shopping till the last minute but will they be getting value for money?

The last thing I would want to do is go shopping at Heathrow. I could not think of anything worse! There seems to be too much pressure to spend everywhere you go.

I agree with Jonathon, the whole airport thing is bad enough let alone trudging around the duty free shops at this time of year, total chaos.

I think that the shops at Heathrow are at a very high standard. Christmas shopping before you fly is handy and a system that I believe many people would take advantage of.
