Flybe, the UK’s number one domestic airline, has today announced a brand new year round service from Manchester to Manston. The new route, which will operate six times a week, has been announced today to coincide with the inaugural flight of Flybe’s new service from Edinburgh to the Kent base.
The new route will be operated by one of the airline’s fuel efficient, environmentally friendly Bombardier Q400 aircraft, and is another step in Flybe’s efforts to increase their presence at Manston Airport. The route will run from September 6th and flights are available for booking today.

Mike Rutter, Flybe’s Chief Commercial Officer, comments: “On the day when we see our first flight from Manston to Edinburgh, Flybe is proud to announce an additional route to Manston from Manchester which will connect Kent to the North of England. This new service is further evidence of Flybe’s commitment to Manston and re-iterates our desire to see the airport prosper in the long-term.
The Passenger Services for Manston Airport said: “We are delighted that Flybe have chosen to open a second route to Manston. You only need to look at the bookings figures for our maiden Edinburgh flights today to see how much of a hunger there is in Kent for regular flights to the North, and Flybe are always responsive to market demands. We are confident that working together, we can ensure that the new Manchester route receives a similarly warm welcome when the first flights take off on September 6th.”
Adds Mr Rutter: “Flybe prides itself on ensuring that travellers have the widest possible choice of affordable, quality flights to attractive business and leisure destinations. We would advise passengers, whether they are travelling for business or pleasure, to book early to take advantage of the lowest possible fares.”

great to have a local airport without travelling to heathrow and Gatwick.Thank you flybe for helping the local economy in spite of the anti flight people of Thanet who want to ruin our local economy by stopping any expansion. One day i would love to see Manston as big as Stanstead or Luton Airports.

I think that this route is a fantastic idea, I live roughly 10 minutes away from Manston and have many friends we hardly ever see becuase they live in Scotland but now thanks to Flybe we can see them far more often.
