Used as a form of attack on Passenger Aircraft

Safety is of upmost importance at all times on commercial airlines, but a relatively new phenomenon threatens to jeopardize this.
Green Laser pens are being used to target aircraft. In July of this year alone there were three attacks at Heathrow Airport. The Civil Aviation Authority called upon residents in Surrey and West London to be on alert and report any sightings of green lasers being shone onto aircraft after dark. On this particular occasion these aircrafts were on their decent into Heathrow. It obviously is a very dangerous and distracting pastime, which could have catastrophic consequences.
There have also been large incidents of Green laser pen use in the US, and this is extending globally.
The C.A.A. is encouraging the aviation industry to unite around the problem by reporting any incidents to the Police Air Support Units, thus promoting a faster response and therefore as a result, culprits could in fact be detected within minutes.
