Luggage tags

Is that my bag?

The recent article by my colleague Catriona Wells, Baggage carousels and bad behaviour, got me thinking about the whole process of collecting luggage off the baggage carousel and how difficult it can be to identify your own cases in the first place.my_suitcase.jpg

It seems to me that most luggage comes in a very uniformed ‘black’ these days and cases all look so similar.

How many times have you mistakenly picked up a bag that you think is yours? only to find an outraged passenger approaching you demanding that you hand their bag back. It has certainly happened to me and very embarrassing it is too!

We have probably all tried fastening a ribbon or something similar onto our cases but, in the scrum at the carousel, it is very hard to see what is going on. The conveyor belt is moving, there are people in the way and before you know it, what you think is your bag is out of reach.

I have been looking on the Internet and have discovered lots of unusual personalised luggage tags.

Airports could even have dispensers with selections of these disposable labels.

Just think how much fun you could have personalising your designer luggage!

VistaPrint seems like a good solution, they allow you to create custom luggage tags printed on flexible, long-lasting vinyl. Attach one to each side of your luggage to easily identify it on a luggage carousel.

This can be a real problem with so many bags looking alike. It has been made worse by the recent changes on bag sizes that have meant many more people having to go out and buy new bags. As Kayte says, most of these are black and of a standard design.

It's an embarrassing situation when you go to grab what you think is your bag and realise it's not, quite a few times I have pulled them off the carousel and realised its not mine, and had to load it back on, I think custom made luggage tags could be a great idea and will look at this next time I fly.

I always have problems with the carousel and knowing which is my bag, and so any ideas that could personalise my baggage would be an advantage.

I agree with Charlotte. I have many a times pulled a bag of a carousel only to find out its not mine!

Anything that will help us identify our luggage will be an advantage. Taking somebody elses luggage is a mistake that has happened to everybody
