If you have never been, then you really should go. Goodwood Revival, set in the grounds of Lord March’s Goodwood Estate in Sussex, is an occasion like no other.
The event itself takes place 17th-19th September 2010. You really will feel you have been transported back in time.
Whether you remember the era or not, it becomes hard to believe that you are in Sussex and have not entered a time machine and travelled back through the years.
If you are interested in aviation, classic motor racing, vintage fashion, or just getting involved with the whole ambience that Goodwood encapsulates, then this is the event for you.
You will witness original tractor trailers and see ‘Dad's Army’ marching along with the glamorous land girls driving the WWII jeeps. Even the food has a distinctive ‘time gone by' feel to it, with fish and chips being wrapped in 1950’s newspapers!
Nothing is left to chance and the attention to detail is incrediable. Although not compulsory, everyone is encouraged to dress in the bygone-age attire, and this seems to be embraced by everyone who visits this event. The vintage theme even extends to stalls providing a Pandora’s box of retro delights for shoppers.
Another attraction, and one for the kids or the young at heart, is the Period Fairground, with familiar and traditional fairground rides.
As you would expect, the main theme is motor racing and there is vast array of this taking place over the whole weekend, with the kind of cars and motorbikes that you would have seen in action on the circuit between 1948-1966. There is a selection of cars including Formula 1, sports and saloon cars. There are familiar faces from all eras of motor sport - Stirling Moss and Jack Brabham to Damon Hill and David Coulthard.
All in all, Goodwood Revival is a great family day out and captures the magic of a bygone era.

I visited the Goodwood Revival for the first time this year and had a fantastic day. I have decided to make the 2012 Revival a corporate event and am really looking forward to it. | |
