On the eve of this year’s World Travel Market, and for a second year in a row, TAP Portugal was voted the Leading Airline to South America.

Launched 17 years ago, to acknowledge the pursuit of excellence across all sectors of international travel, the World Travel Awards, described by the Wall Street Journal as the “Oscars”, are the most prestigious accolades within the travel industry.
Receiving the award, Luiz Mór, Executive Board Member of TAP Portugal, said: “We are delighted for TAP becoming a winner of the WTA award for the second successive year. This recognises our hard work to promote and reinforce our service to South America, especially to Brazil, where TAP stands out as the leading international airline, connecting over 30 cities in Europe to nine different gateways."
Despite growing competition from Air France, American Airlines and British Airways, TAP’s leadership to South America continues to be acknowledged by its passengers.
Last year, TAP carried nearly 1,200,000 passengers to Brazil, showing a 29 per cent increase year-on-year. As one passeneger told me, "A special airline for a special destination"

I have used TAP to fly to Brazil and they were great. I do not know if it is just a Portuguese mentality but they gave the impression of being carefree and wanting to make the flight pleasurable. | |
