The Lake Hotel in Killarney is a must visit place to feel the essence of Irish spirit and charm

Situated on the very shores of Lock Lein, The Lake Hotel has both breathtaking mountain and lake views. It is also steps away from the Killarney National Park. The most magical time is early morning when the mist meets the lakes, turning it into almost a fairylike kingdom.
The hotel is 2km from Killarney itself, a town in County Derry in South Western Ireland. The four star Lake Hotel still exhibits the building’s original elegant lounges and its open log fires. In 1861, the Lake Hotel hosted Queen Victoria of England during her stay in Ireland.
When we were there, we stayed in a fabulous spacious and well equipped room, with a fantastic Jacuzzi, which was strategically placed to witness the spectacular views that were on offer. The view was particularly beautiful at night when the lake was lit up. You were able to take a stroll down to very pretty pier where you could hire a boat to take a trip around the lakes.
The food has a very traditional Irish feel to it and great trouble is taken to source food locally, the hotel has an exceptional Irish charm. The staff were very warm and friendly and nothing seemed to be too much trouble.
The one thing you must do whilst staying here is to drive the ‘Ring of Kerry’ and witness some of the most spectacular and breathtaking scenery I believe you will come across anywhere in the world. You will encounter a true Irish essence within the villages that you travel through and their ability to make you feel ‘right at home, and part of the family’.
Killarney is a place that needs to be seen to be believed and will leave you with a very warm feeling, and a longing to go back.
