Turkish Airlines

Now and again, I treat myself to flying Alitalia rather than CheepoAir. On this occasion, it was Alitalia that was delayed and I spent an extra hour swapping travel disasters with a woman in the Executive Lounge.

Turkish_airline.jpgWhen she begun a sentence with the fact that she had recently flown on Turkish Air, I initially assumed it was the start line of a joke or perhaps one of these “I have suffered worse journeys than you have” stories.

I also admit that I had never heard of Turkish Air and was grudgingly beginning to realise that this woman was very well travelled and knew her stuff. My snappy array of rejoinders based on Turkish Delight and Turkish baths were obviously not going to be needed.

Apparently, Turkish Airlines, to give them their proper name, are making their name as a quality service provider with their Business and First Class services right up there with best of their competitors. They have also introduced a Comfort Class, which is broadly equivalent to Virgin’s Premium Economy.

At flights.co.uk will shortly be running a series of articles on business-class travel and Turkish Airlines is clearly an airline for us to put on that watch list.

I have travelled with Turkish Airlines (and I knew that they existed). The economy service is a bit rubbishy, probably no better or worse than any other middle eastern airline.
However, the comfort class is really good. I have not used Business Class but I understand it is fantastic.

I too have used Turkish Airlines. Comfort class was easily equivalent to Virgin's Premium Economy class. I would definitely use them again without hesitation.

No one I have heard of before, I must admit and tend to use only the well known airlines. I must admit just the sound of the name is enough to put you off really, but it would be worth investigating further.

Angela
Does the sound of anything 'put you off' trying something. Think about the names of foods you have probably eaten, programmes that you have watched on TV or even the fact that Turkish Delight, was one of the largest confectionary brands and many people around the world have tried Turkish Baths.
The first two comments about Turkish Airlines are quite valid as the commentators have actually tried the Airline. The comment you have written is rediculous, immature, illinformed and I would even go as far as to say boardering on racism. When you have tried Turkish Airlines please comment - good or bad I for one would like to hear your views. BTW - I do not work for them, I am not Turkish, but I have tried a Turkish Delight in my time and liked it very much.

I cannot understand how did you manage to remain unaware of Turkish Airlines? The fastest growing, the most profitable airline and the 3rd biggest of the Europe after Lufthansa and KLM. They fly to 190 and so detinations around the world. I fly from Birmingham 2-3 times a year with Turkish and it is very good, punctual and offers delicious economy class meals. Most importantly it is cheaper than Emirates and offers better service. Turkish's economy class food is the best in the world. Also I will accuse Angela of racism as well. What a shameful comment

Having relatives in Turkey means that I often travel there and do so with Turkish Airlines. I have only flown comfort class and the level of customer service is very good.
