Who would be a Flight Attendant?

Is it not about time we gave Flight Attendants a break?

In the news over the last couple of days there has been an amusing story of how a flight attendant dramatically quit his job.

flight-attendant.jpgThe trouble started when the Attendant asked a passenger to sit down rather than try to remove something from the overhead compartment before the 'plane came to a complete standstill.

The passenger decided to use some rather ‘choice’ language in the exchange and, it would seem, this was the final straw for the Flight Attendant.  He made his way to the public address system and tendered his resignation to the whole of the plane. Stopping only to collect a couple of beers and his own baggage, he implemented the emergency evactuation slide and made his way to his car.

He was arrested and charged with ‘Criminal Mischief, Reckless Endangerment and trespassing’.

It is surprising really that this does not happen more often.

I, for one, would not enjoy being a Flight Attendant and having to deal with the general public. You would need the patience of a Saint.

We have all witnessed rudeness and the inability to follow simple instructions and rules that are there for our own safety. I would imagine that they feel completely undermined in so many situations. I feel they do a fantastic job in a very confined space and, in my experience, they only want to make your flight a good one and always seek to give you the best possible customer service.

Although there are admittedly exceptions to the rule, is it not about time we gave them a break, listened to instructions and followed them?

What is the point anyway in getting your baggage down for instance whilst the plane is still moving, it does not get you out of there any faster!

I would hate to be a Flight Attendant, I think they have to put up with so much, ok, they get to travel but is it really worth all the stress of dealing with the general public, I think they do a fantastic job.

They do do a fantastic job, and are very tolerant with the general public, they must have to endure a lot and at the end of the day every one has a breaking point.

Dealing with the public is a pain. My daughter works in a shop on Saturdays and tells the most horrific stories. Just plain rudeness.

The flight attendant must have a very difficult time trying to act with authority and with the burden of safety to worry about.

I think that flight attendents do a really good job. They have to deal with anything thrown their way while 30,000 up in the air!
