Acts of God insurance exclusion
AndieJobs's comment 23 April 2010, 03:01PM

The article is correct in that before families go on holiday, they need to know the full cost upfront. For this to work we need a truly comprehensive insurance option that allows them to cap the costs for a fixed price.
The problem recently is that the insurers have the Act of God opt out clause that allows them to put the responsibility back on the passenger - that is wrong. Give us a truly comprehensive insurance policy such that we are covered for all eventualities. If you chose not to take it, then you are on your own.

Ryanair - What price standing?
AndieJobs's comment 2 July 2010, 06:14PM

This might all be a publicity stunt but the idea of standing room has been mooted before by other airlines.

If the comments from Ryanair's publicity department are to be believed, the airline is already in active discussions with the CAA.
I do not think they would say that if it were not true.

Illegal and improper fines and charges
AndieJobs's comment 11 September 2010, 08:02PM

They caught me too. This is criminal and I want to get my money back. I am writing to the Company Secretary putting in a demand for a refund. I will post a comment when I get an answer.

DVT - more than just cramped legs
AndieJobs's comment 30 September 2010, 01:53PM

I have heard this argument before and, I believe, the American government did a big investigation. From what I can remember there was no direct link between pressurisation and DVT. My advice is that you have to move around and drink lots of water to avoid problems.

School’s out for immigrant students
AndieJobs's comment 30 September 2010, 01:59PM

I assume that our colleges and universities get a considerable proportion of their income from overseas students. There are also, probably, benefits for visiting and local students from the mix. What I do not understand is why it is out of control?
Surely, you give someone a visa for a period and at the end of the period they leave or suffer the consequences. I lived for a while in the USA and they have a very simple and strict process. When your visa expires, you leave. If you overstay then the penalties are extreme. You will probably be banned from re-visting for life and will suffer fines, imprisonment and forced deportation. This is not just for terrorists and criminals, it is for anyone that betrays the privilege of entry.
Can we please take the same line?
