When we (I am an American living in London) closed our airspace following 9/11, we compensated your British airlines for their loss of business. Perhaps you might like to consider to the same for us this time. It is not just British Airways that suffered - our guys fly over here too.
As an American citizen I am used to strict border control. Our Homeland Security guys do a great job in keeping our borders safe. No one gets into the USA without clearance. It does not matter whether you are a Brit or a US citizen - we check everybody.
You Brits have a special relationship and get to use our Visa Waiver option on the assumption that you are safe. But, if you cannot keep your own house in order, we do not really want you coming into ours.
Too right. I certainly do not want to sit in your Gatwick airport public area with the mess, screaming kids and half-finished building work. Why can you not just finish the building ? it is the same each time I travel through there.
We have the problem in the US where there are lots of overweight people. Fast food and fries etc. Most of our internal airlines do enforce the rules and make them purchase two tickets. It may be hard on the passenger's pocket book but it is the fairest way of dealing with this.

I never did get the reason for trying to put in a third runway in an airport that is so damn small. OK, I am American and we have regional airports that are bigger than LHR. Each time I fly in (or out) I am amazed at how crowded and how small Britain is. This is not a criticism nor a complaint because I love it here but, the southeast is just so crowded.
I do not know how you guys are going to fix the problem because even building a new road or railway train track takes space you just do not have without knocking down a bunch of houses.
We have trialed these in the States and they seem to have been accepted. I guess we do not grumble as much as you Brits do.
Since the awful events of 9/11 our Homeland Security has had a pretty free hand to bring in measures that it considers necessary. Somehow we seem to manage without the human rights issues that are so big here and in France.
This must be a nightmare. Returning from a trip is always difficult but to come back to this !!
This is a great PR opportunity for Stanstead to shine. I wonder if they took full advantage or if they missed the point.
